Elkin Municipal Park and Elkin Recreation Center offers something for everyone.

Located at 399 Highway 268 West, our 25-acre park boasts 8 lighted tennis courts, a scenic walking track, a playground, two picnic shelters and a bandshell.

An outdoor swimming pool is open to the public during the summer months.

Elkin Recreation Center offers indoor basketball and two fitness rooms with free weights and a multitude of cardiovascular equipment.

WIFI in the Park
 
The Elkin Municipal Park now has Wireless Internet Service. Thanks to a grant made possible by the Chamber of Commerce, park patrons can now enjoy wireless internet service while basking in the wonderful surroundings at the municipal park.

Crater Park
Is located in Downtown Elkin it host one Ball Field used for Girls Softball, T-Ball and Coach Pitch baseball. Crater Park is also used for football and has a boat access to the Yadkin River.

Chatham Park
Is located on Highway 268 less than ½ mile from downtown. Chatham Park has two baseball fields used for baseball, softball and has several soccer fields. It also has a rentable Picnic Shelter.

Overmountian Victory Trail
The Overmountain Victory Trail extends from the municipal park south to the Yadkin River and then west to the Wilkes County line. Brown guide markers are located along trail.

Big Elkin Creek Greenway
Future plans are for development of a greenway system.  Phase 1 will extend from the municipal park north approximately 3 miles along Big Elkin Creek.

Rules & Regulations

Elkin Recreation and Parks
Park Closed 1:00am to 5:00 am each day

It shall be unlawful on Town of Elkin Recreation Facilities for any person to:

1. Use or trespass on recreation facilities when closed to the public.

2. Erect advertising or signs of any type, except as allowed by Ordinance on Election Day.

3. Possess or discharge, shoot, fire or explode any deadly weapon. Also including but not limited to the hitting of golf balls; throwing or propelling any dangerous projectiles and the use of fireworks without a permit.

4. Permit dogs, horses or other animals to run at large or ride horses with in town recreation facilities, except on trails so designated.

5. Permit a vehicle to be left unattended for more than 12 hours or overnight.

6. Use or operate bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, skateboards, and scooters except in areas so designated and without a helmet.

7. Possess, consume, and display any alcoholic beverage or any substance included in the NC Controlled Substance Act, without a proper prescription.

8. Litter or dispose of household or business garbage in recreation facility garbage containers.

9. Operate a motor with in a recreation facility during the hours posted that the facility is closed..

10.  No registered sex offender shall enter into or upon any public park operated by the Town of Elkin.

Violations of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be a Class 3 Misdemeanor under the authority of the North Carolina General Statutes 14-4.

Girls Volleyball Clinic - Monday, August 23, 2010

There will be a Volleyball clinic for girls ages 7-13 at the Elkin Recreation Center.  The clinic will run on Tuesday nights from 6:15-7:30 beginning August 31.  The cost is $4 per class.
