Main Street
Adopt -a-Street Program
A Community Effort
There are two types of programs that encourage community involvement when keeping your city's streets clean.
Adopt-a-Highway is for those wishing to keep DOT highways clean that are within Town of Elkin city limits. If interested in cleaning a highway, then the DOT must be contacted at 336-835-4241. Some examples are CC Camp Road, Johnson Ridge Road, Bridge St, Claremont, Market St, etc. The DOT will provide a sign along the street with your organization's name once you apply and are approved.
Adopt-a-Street includes streets within the Town of Elkin city limits. If you are interested in helping your community maintain a street, please contact the Elkin Main Street & Community Manager for an application. You will be asked to clean your street approximately 3-4 times a year, and the town will provide garbage bags, gloves and safety vests during your clean up.
The Town of Elkin will also provide a sign along your street with your organization's name on it as a thank you and for recognition of your efforts. This sign will be installed once you have completed and documented your first clean up.
If you have further questions, please call Laura Gaylord at 336-258-8908 or email communitymanager@elkinnc.org.
